Macomb County Public Works Wins ACEC Award

The Macomb County Public Works Office was recently recognized by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Michigan (ACEC/Michigan) with its Surveying Eminent Conceptor Award for a project to siginificantly reduce combined sewer overflows and to improve water quality of Lake St. Clair.

The awarded project was for the three-dimensional scanning of 4.5 miles of the 12-foot diameter tunnel that carries stormwater and sanitary sewage from Eastpointe and St. Clair Shores to the Chapaton Pump Station. The scanning is a step toward increaing the in-system storage capacity of wastewater in order to reduce overflows by 30 percent.
