Jon Morrison, Chair

Purpose: The Awards Committee solicits project submissions from Drain Commissioners that they deem to be particularly innovative in nature, approach, etc. and/or excellent in terms of the complication, effort, etc. required to bring the project to successful completion.  The Committee reviews all applications deemed to be qualified via the submittal process and awards the annual Innovation and Excellence Awards and honorable mentions. 

Meeting Schedule: Annually in December to review project submittals and determine award recipients.

Elmeka Steele, Chair

Purpose: The Budget Committee consists of a minimum of three members, including the Treasurer.  The Budget Committee prepares a proposed annual budget.  The proposed annual budget is provided to the Board at least 30 days prior to the summer meeting for its review and is presented by the Budget Committee to the Board at its summer meeting.  

Meeting Schedule: Annually and as-needed to develop the proposed annual budget to be adopted at each MACDC Summer Conference.

Bernie Barnes, Chair

Purpose: Reviews and updates the association’s bylaws to ensure they remain current, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals. Provides recommendations for amendments when necessary.

Meeting Schedule: Meets annually or as needed when bylaw changes are proposed.

Joel Morgan, Chair

Purpose: Solicit content and prepare the quarterly Pipeline Magazine.

Meeting Schedule: Bi-annually at each conference and as-needed.

Brady Harrington, Chair

Purpose: Prepare Requests for Proposals and provide recommendations to the executive committee for consultants. 

Meeting Schedule: As Needed

Robin Denman, Chair

Purpose: Review contractor, supplier, and consultant involvement with the annual conferences, discuss any concerns during the conference and to discuss upcoming vendor needs during the next conference.

Meeting Schedule: Twice annually during summer and winter conferences

Joe Parman, Chair

Purpose: The Education Committee exists to provide and plan educational session to further advanced the knowledge of its members.  For example: BS&A Drain Assessment training.  The Education Committee also plans the New Drain Commissioner School which is held once every four years to on-board new county drain commissioners.

Brian Wendling, Chair

Purpose: Create the itinerary for the annual winter and summer conferences. This entails selecting presentation topics and speakers, then reaching out to potential speakers for scheduling.  The Program Committee will also review conference registration fees annually and make recommendation to the MACDC Board for any necessary changes.

Meeting Schedule: Twice annually, prior to the winter and summer conferences.

Bernie Barnes, Chair

Purpose: Explores opportunities to integrate renewable energy solutions and broadband infrastructure into drainage systems and county operations. Advises on best practices for stormwater review and emerging technologies.

Meeting Schedule: Meets yearly or as needed to discuss new developments and initiatives.

Tanner Kragenbrink, Chair

Purpose: The MACDC Young Professionals Committee (YPC) is a group of people young in their professions or new to MACDC. They include drain office staff, contractors, suppliers, engineers, and lawyers. Their goal is to welcome and create community with other young members and associate members within MACDC. They meet regularly to plan and organize social functions at the summer and winter conferences and between conferences.

Meeting Schedule: Monthly plus as-scheduled social events
