Attached is an informational bulletin announcing fund availability for the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP). Approximately $41 million in federal funds will be available for eligible hazard mitigation activities in the state of Michigan. Extensive program details can be found in FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Assistance Unified Guidance document (although this document is labeled “Fiscal Year 2015” guidance, it is the current version of the program guidance).
Examples of eligible HMA Hazard Mitigation projects include:
- Hazard Mitigation Plan Development and update
- Voluntary acquisition or elevation of flood-prone residential and non-residential structures.
- Construction of Tornado Saferooms
- Retrofit of structures for wind protection
- Protective measures for utility infrastructure
- Stormwater management and wetland restoration/creation projects.
- Project scoping/advanced assistance projects to fund activities to obtain data and services required to identify and design appropriate application-ready mitigation projects and/or development of high-quality project applications.
Deadlines
- NOI forms must be submitted to the MSP/EMHSD by no later than March 31, 2022
- Applications are due to the MSP/EMHSD for review by June 1, 2022
