MDARD Intercounty Drain Program News

Myers

For those who haven’t heard the Intercounty Drain Program has a new secretary replacing Peggy Snyder. Joy Myers joined the staff in late June and has been working side by side with Peggy the last several months as we train her for that position. Joy is now fully engaged and we’re pleased to have her on board. Joy has extensive administrative support experience coming from Higher Education and K-12.  She worked for the University of Michigan as a secretary for over 17 years at a busy media relations office.  She has also worked for several school districts including Los Alamos, NM and Los Olivos, CA assisting students with enrollment and handling student records. She served as coordinator for the California School Boards Association where she was in-charge of the Manual Maintenance division.  In this position she coordinated all of the requests for policy updates from over 500 member districts throughout the state of California and trained new employees on policy manuals. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, riding bikes, traveling, reading, sewing and gardening.

Please welcome Joy to this important position and introduce yourself at the upcoming district meetings. Going forward please direct your communications to Joy at myersj18@michigan.gov, office 517-284-5624 or cell 517-256-6624 as we transition Peggy back to her role of managing our massive document scanning project with the State Archivist. And we’re also making progress on creating a GIS based mapping of intercounty drains under a contract with Spicer Group.
